English/Swedish painter simplifying urban landscapes.

I make oil and acrylic paintings of landscapes resembling my local surroundings. I am drawn to what I might discover when I set off on a walk exploring new or familiar pockets In the city. The light, a shadow, each building and each tree is unique. And it beats being stuck indoors. Using a simplified approach I build fields of colour, applying gradually thicker paint with as few details as needed. Distilling the landscape into flat planes leaves the painting open to interpretation, hovering between representation and simply light and geometry.
